911 / Public Safety Communications

911 / Public Safety Communications is the emergency dispatch center for the Canton Fire and Police Department. Job duties are to:
  • Answer all 911 emergency and administrative calls for the city of Canton
  • Direct or connect all emergency medical calls to the ambulance service
  • Dispatch  Fire and Police calls
  • Operate the National Criminal Information Center (NCIC)
We have three shifts, 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., 2 to 10 p.m., and 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Special Instructions
Call 911 for life threatening emergencies only. For example:
  • Accidents
  • All fire calls
  • All medical emergencies
  • Burglaries in progress
  • Child endangerment
  • Sexual assaults
  • Shootings
Call the non-emergency number, 601-859-2121 for all other requests.
