Olivia Harrell is Alderwoman in Ward 2 in the City of Canton. She has been a resident of Canton, Mississippi for 33 years. She was born in Springfield, Tennessee. After graduating from Springfield High School, she attended Austin Peay State University in Clarksdale, Tennessee, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. After teaching Junior High and High School for ten years in Tennessee, she and her husband, Jim, and their two small children moved to Canton in 1980.
Olivia served on the Canton Public School Board of Trustees for 15 years, 30 years with MadCAAp (Madison Countians Allied Against Poverty) serving in several leadership positions with her current position being Board President, and six years on the Board of Directors of the Canton Housing Authority. She has been instrumental in organizing and advancing Canton Area Habitat for Humanity and volunteering in numerous organizations such as schools, churches and community programs.
