Les Penn, Ward 3 Alderman, grew up in Canton and currently resides here with his wife, Murray Ann Penn. A member of First United Methodist Church of Canton, Les is deeply rooted in Canton. He is the sole owner of Penn Transport, LLC, and he has proudly located this business in Canton. He is also associated with Mid-South Grain and Feed Ingredients as the Grain Origination Specialist.
Les is the Founder and Director of Run for Sterl, an annual run which is held in Canton. The race includes a half-marathon, 10K, 5K, and Kids Fun Mile. Les founded this event to celebrate the life of his cousin, Sterling Penn, by raising money for The Buoniconti Fund, the fundraising arm of The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis. The event attracts runners to Canton annually from all over the state of Mississippi.
Maintaining his commitment to the community, Les also serves on the Board of Directors of the Country Club of Canton. He is an avid fan of the Ole Miss Rebels and, in his spare time, enjoys hunting, traveling, and exercising.
