Les Penn, Ward 3 Alderman, grew up in Canton and currently resides here with his wife, Murray Ann Penn and daughter Ann Bryan Penn. A member of First United Methodist Church of Canton, Les is deeply rooted in Canton. He is the owner of Penn Transport, LLC, in Canton. He is also associated with Mid-South Grain and Feed Ingredients in Flora, MS as the Grain Origination Specialist.
Les is the Founder and Director of Run for Sterl, an annual run which is held in Canton. The race includes a half-marathon, 10K, 5K, and Kids Fun Mile. Les founded this event to celebrate the life of his cousin, Sterling Penn, by raising money for The Buoniconti Fund, the fundraising arm of The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis. The event attracts runners to Canton annually from all over the state of Mississippi.
Les is also currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Mississippi Feed and Grain Association, and in 2015 served as President. Also in 2015 Les served as Chairman of the Southern Feed and Grain Convention in Sandestin, FL.
Maintaining his commitment to the community, Les has served on the Board of Directors at the Canton Country Club. He is an avid fan of the Ole Miss Rebels and, in his spare time he enjoys golf, hunting and traveling.
