About the Mayor 
Arnel D. Bolden is the current Mayor of the City of Canton, Mississippi, which serves as the seat of government for Madison County, Mississippi. A graduate of Southern University, he has spent the last 22 years as a State Farm Insurance Agent, primarily serving the citizens of Canton, Mississippi. As a servant leader, Mayor Bolden prides himself in enriching the lives of individuals and building better organizations with a primary focus on the growth and well-being of people in the community. Accordingly, he has served on numerous boards and attained many notable achievements including serving as the 1st African American President of the Chamber of Commerce in Canton, Mississippi, a Partner in Education with McNeal Elementary School and Canton High School, board member of the Madison County River Oaks Medical Center in Canton, a 2002 graduate of Leadership Madison County, a 2012 graduate of the FBI Citizens Academy, a  2013 graduate of Leadership Mississippi, and an active member of Canton United Methodist Church where he serves as chairman of the finance committee. As a community supporter, he is an aggressive advocate for strong public schools. Mayor Bolden is founder of the Arnel D. Bolden Scholarship Award, which is given to two Canton High School graduating seniors annually. He is also responsible for over two thousand dollars in other scholarship awards.  

On July 2, 2013, he began his tenure as Mayor of the City of Canton. With a commitment to community, equality and opportunity for every resident and neighborhood, Mayor Bolden has the track record, skills, and experience to move Canton forward. He has a genuine compassion for helping others to be successful and is on a mission to create jobs, provide better education for our students, and improve the overall quality of life in our great City of Canton.
